Superhero Listening Ears

Image
We had a very little Sunday School class today, so we managed to have a bit of extra fun with our superhero-sized listening ears! The lesson was all about Samuel who heard a voice in the night. At first he thought it was Eli calling him, but Eli told him it was actually God speaking. Samuel went back to bed and said "Speak Lord, I am listening." And from then on, God spoke to Samuel many times and it was Samuel's very important job to tell the people everything that God had said. The Kids' Christmas

During this week's service in Athol Street, our Sunday School kids (with a little help from Nick, Alex, Michael and Lydia) presented the nativity story to the congregation. Sadly, we were missing the Wise Men and our Mary on the day but the show must go on! Chilling out before going on stage Michael and Lydia lighting the advent candles Two very sweet angels Joseph didn't appreciate Jesus' crying A cheeky angel and shepherd

Recycling a Christmas Tree

Image
This year we recycled our Christmas tree. After Christmas it was left out to dry and then used to construct a cross. During the Sundays of Lent, the children saw a new item added to the cross before they went to Sunday School; drops of blood, a whip, crown of thorns, hammer and nails, robe and dice, and finally a spear. On Easter Sunday, the cross was decorated with flowers and butterflies which the children made in Sunday School. This idea was adapted and expanded from our LCA Lenten worship resources on www.lca.org.au/worship .
