Bethlehem hosts Regional Women's Fellowship Event

Image
On Saturday 14th June the Bethlehem Ladies' Fellowship was pleased to host women from the Riverina area (and beyond) to a fellowship day. The theme was taken from Proverbs 3:6 - "In all your ways submit to the Lord  and he will make your paths straight." There was a visual display highlighting all the areas of life in which the Lord can give his guidance. Speakers from the CSU Regional Archives and "Angels for the Forgotten" (caring for the homeless) added to an informative and enjoyable day of fellowship.

A Special Tree

A special event occurred at the Lutheran School on Friday.  Students and teachers gathered to witness the planting of a tree to celebrate 175 years of Lutheran education in Australia. While our School has only been around for just over 30 years, Lutheran schools in Australia have been going strong since 1839.  That year, three Lutheran Schools opened in Adelaide (Piltawodli Lutheran School, Klemzig Lutheran School, and Glen Osmond Lutheran School), one in Hahndorf (St Michael's Lutheran School) and one in Queensland (German Station Lutheran School, Nundah). A new variety of eucalyptus, a Nullarbor Rose, was chosen to be planted just near the Administration Building, where it can be seen and admired by everyone as they drive into the carpark. Four people were given the honour of the actual planting of the tree: the School Captains, Meg and Ben, the Chair of the School Board, Michelle Astrup, and School Principal, Ken Albinger. The Year 5 students also contributed

Pitch 'n' Putt 2014

Image
The Perpetual Bethlehem Lutheran Pitch and Putt Trophy was up for grabs for the second time a couple of weeks ago.  Close on twenty intrepid Wagga Lutherans met out at the Pitch and Putt course, each hoping for some fun and fellowship, and, perhaps, a chance at that trophy. Pastor Mike and Andrew surprised many with their prowess with a golf stick, taking first and second place in the competition and just sneaking the trophy from last year's joint-winner, Des, who came in a close third. To her own amazement, Michelle was the stand-out player of the day, having no real previous experience of the game.  Margaret and Steph shared the wooden spoon but went home happy anyway.  Congratulations, everyone! The gracious winner holds the trophy aloft...
