A musical Sunday and a Goodbye

Image
After all too short a time with us, Pastor John and Carol Wilksch were farewelled on Sunday. They have been a welcome presence while they've been here in Wagga and we've loved getting to know them. They will be heading back home to South Australia first, then they'll be off on a well-deserved holiday. Making his last Sunday with us particularly special, Pastor John demonstrated his musical skills for us, performing three pieces on our Ahlborn organ. Pastor John first played a number of variations of "Whatever God Ordains is Good," a choral hymn by German organist and composer,   Johann Pachelbel   (1653-1706). His second piece was by another German composer,   Johann Sebastian Bach   (1685-1750), "Wake Awake". School Homecoming

Image
A couple of weekends ago we held the Lutheran School Wagga Wagga's Homecoming. It was a wonderful opportunity for past students and staff to visit the school and reconnect with old friends and colleagues. Saturday was spent at the school in Tamar Drive where visitors were given guided tours, a sausage or three and the chance to reminisce over old photographs. A worship service at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Athol Street on Sunday was followed by morning tea and a memorabilia display in the Damschke Hall where the school first started in 1982. It was lovely to see familiar faces return to the school, many of whom had the next generation in tow. There are also a couple of photos to check out in the Daily Advertiser's photo gallery .
