More 125 Years at Milbrulong

Image
Following the service, everyone made their way down to the Milbrulong Hall for lunch. The hall was full to bursting with people, food and reminiscences. Below are just a few of the friendly faces that were there...

125 Years at Milbrulong

Image
An historic event was celebrated in Milbrulong today: 125 years of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church.   The almost 116-year-old church literally overflowed with members, past members, guests, and long lost friends. Also there were Bishop John Henderson of the Lutheran Church of Australia and NSW District Bishop Mark Lieschke who joined Pastor Stuart in leading the service of thanksgiving and unveiling a commemorative plaque. More photos to come!

Havest Thanksgiving

Image
It was Harvest Thanksgiving on Sunday and there was a huge range of items brought to the worship service in Athol Street. Our photographer was a little late so only a few items were left by this point! There were items representing food, family, work, things to keep us warm and things to keep us entertained. An extra-special highlight were the cute little chicks brought in by Rachel. They all showed just how much we have to give thanks for.

School Staff Installation and Lyn's 25 Years

Image
It's that time of year again... School's Back! And that means the annual installation and re-dedication of our school staff and teachers. There were three new faces this year: Samantha Hamilton (Learning Enrichment Teacher), Catherine Watkins (Learning Assistant), and Kylie Kennedy (Learning Assistant). Three of the new school captains were also on hand to participate in the service and welcome the new teachers. For more photos, check out the School's facebook page . In addition to the installation/re-dedication, a special presentation was made at the end of the service today. An acknowledgement was made of the 25 years of full service Lyn Miller has given to Lutheran School Wagga Wagga. The wonderful Lyn is actually in her 27th year with the school now, which is a marvellous achievement considering that she started out "just filling in" when someone else suddenly moved onto a full time position elsewhere!

Christmas Cheer and Charity

Image
The Ladies Fellowship hosted the Annual Christmas Party earlier this month with around forty people able to attend.  The Christmas Party is a two-fold event - Christmas cheer and charity. The christmassy place settings, ready and waiting. The cheer came in the form of company and conviviality with ham, turkey and plenty of salads on offer, followed up by trifles, tarts, pavlovas, fruit salads, puddings and brandy custard.  And if the diners felt so moved, they were encouraged to make a donation to Lutheran World Service's Gifts of Grace. The Christmas Cake: back by popular demand, baked by Leonie and decorated by Ange. June undertaking the ceremonial cake-cutting. Some of the desserts that were on offer - Yum! The placemats proved a hit once again - this year a Christmas quiz was the feature. How many can you answer without resorting to your favourite search engine? A Quick Christmas Quiz : 1. How many Wise Men were there, according to the Bible?...
